On the mountains that framed Torri del Benaco and Lake Garda, the typical vegetation is characterised by the rich presence of chestnut trees.
In this time of the year, the chestnut ripens and the village of San Zeno di Montagna, situated in the hills just 10 kms from Torri del Benaco, celebrates it with a special event.
The „Festa delle Castagne“ (Chestnuts Festival) is on program on 21st , 22nd, 28th and 29th October and on 1st, 4th and 5th November.
The event includes gastronomic stands, where you can taste local specialties based on chestnut, concerts and live music, exhibitions and a special market whose booths offer chestnuts, of course, and other local products.

Besides the events planned in the town centre, I recommend you to have dinner in some restaurants of the town, that offer special chestnut menues, from appetizers until dessert. Here are the restaurants that partecipate in the initiative:

Stroll along the promenade and enjoy tasting food into this colorful atmosphere.

From Friday 29th to Sunday 31st of August the 2nd edition of Frittitaly will take place: in the big pavilion called “PalaFrittitaly” set up on the harbour, you can taste fish fry and good wine.
The pavilion is open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 11.00 to 14.00 and from 18.30 to 22.30.
The Frittitaly is not only on the port, but it extends also to many restaurants in Torri del Benaco, that for this week end will propose special Combo Menus with fry.

The rich program of summer events continues in Torri del Benaco with a new entry of this year.
For the first time Torri del Benaco hosts a Beer Festival, on the style of the German Bierfest! What a news!
In the green area by the castle a big stand had been set up, where you can sit and enjoy typical Tyrolean specialities, pizza and, of course, good beer!

The festival, that will take place from 25th to 28th July, will be animated by live music every night

This time I want to give you a tip for your dinner or lunch in Torri del Benaco.

A good restaurant in a peaceful location on a terrace overlooking the lake and surrounded by olives trees: this is the Trattoria agli Olivi, a family run restaurant, on the hills of Torri del Benaco.

Trattoria agli Olivi proposes a typical menu with specialities of the lake: do not miss the famous Bigoli con le aole (fresh made pasta with sardines), the Ravioli with lavaret and olives or the perch fish fillet.

Of course, the menu offers also meat dishes. And to close the best your meal, try their home-made desserts: the licorice semifreddo is my favourite one!

The restaurant is only 5 minutes driving from the centre of Torri del Benaco, but they also offer free transfer to/from the restaurant. You can book for it directly, or at our reception desk.

Osteria del 4 is a nice front lake restaurant that offers a traditional menu´ with fresh home-made pasta, fish from the lake, and delicious home-made desserts. Last time I tried the mint mousse with chocolate and fresh strawberries: delicious! :)
