The Great War in the Scaliger Castle

Dear guests,

during your stay in Torri del Benaco, do not forget a visit to the Scaliger Castle.

The Scaliger Castle that overlooks the harbor, is one of the symbol of Torri del Benaco and contributes to make the village still more picturesque.
The Castle, that dates back to 1383, hosts in the inside a museum dedicated to the ancient jobs and activities that were once practiced around Lake Garda.

This year, from 24.03 to 21.10.2018 the Scaliger Castle host an interesting exhibition dedicated to the Great War. It deals with a collection of testimonies that told where the soldiers faced each other, where they lived. It isn’ t a list of names and dates, but a real collection of feelings and emotions.

16.06-15.09.2018: 9.30-13.00/16.30 – 19.30

Bardolino Wine Festival

Hello dear guests,
the famous appointment with the Bardolino Wine Festival is coming this week end!
It deals with the 88th edition of the popular festival dedicated to the Bardolino Wine that every year achieves resounding success among its visitors.
The event takes place in Bardolino, 10 kms away from Torri del Benaco, from Thursday 28th September to Monday 002th October. Along the lake promenade and in the historical centre, the town will be animated by gastronomic stands that will propose wine of local wineries. Special parades and events are planned every day.
Entertainment for children also does not lack: on Sunday morning children can have fun by pressing grapes as per tradition, showing how wine used to be made in the past. On Sunday afternoon foot race for kids in the main square!
Every night live music. And on Sunday evening at 11.30 pm do not miss the musical firework show on the water.

Painters and dancers for a picturesque week end

Hello dear guests,
on this week-end the nice event „ Torri to the painters“ (Le strade di Torri ai pittori) comes back to Torri del Benaco.

From today Friday 26th afternoon until Sunday 28th August lot of painters will paint live in the historical centre, showing their art and works. Stroll along the streets and plunge into this colorful atmosphere. It deals of the 16th edition of this singular painting exhibition that every year achieves resounding success among inhabitants and tourists.

On Saturday 27th August at 9 pm, , on the port, do not miss the dance show Il Labirinto del Fauno, presented by the local professional Dance School Ordinary Out Dance Project.

Dear guests,
during your stay in Torri del Benaco, do not forget to visit the Scaliger Castle.
The Scaliger Castle that overlooks the harbor, is one of the symbol of Torri del Benaco and contributes to make the village still more picturesque.
The Castle, that dates back to 1383, hosts in the inside a museum dedicated to the ancient jobs and activities that were once practiced around Lake Garda. You will find a room dedicated to the cultivation of olives, that was the main economic activity of the area, and also a space that illustrates equipment and techniques used for fishing on the Lake.
Walking inside the building you could admire the nice lemon grove, that is still in use, and also climb up to the top of the towers. A steep climb, but it is worth it: the view from up there is wonderful and dominates not only the village of Torri but also most of the lake, from Sirmione to Limone.
The Castle of Torri, with his majesty and ancient atmosphere fascinates its visitors, and since some years it has become a popular location for wedding ceremonies: a lot of couple coming from all over the world choses the highest tower or the lemon grove as location to fulfill their love dream. And who can blame them?

#Vintage Market

Good morning!

just a quick info to remind you that on this week end, on Saturday 02nd and on Sunday 03rd July, a Vintage Market will take place in Torri del Benaco.

From 9.00 am till 6.00 pm in the historical centre and along the lake promenade you will find many stands offering antiques, and handcraft items.

Good morning dear guests,

what happens this week end in Torri del Benaco?

Here is the interesting programm for the next days.

On Saturday 11th June, do not miss the famous competition “Palio delle Bisse” in Torri del Benaco. It deals of the first race of the championship “Bandiera del Lago 2016″. Every week the boats challenge in different places on the lake.
The “Bisse” were ancient boats that were used for fishing on the lake through the ages. They have a characteristic shape (a narrow keel and pointed ends). Four men are needed to row the boat, gondolier-style through the water.

Programm of the event:

At 7.30 p.m. parade with paddlers and boats in the town centre.

At 8.15 p.m. boats parade in the lake along the coast

At 8.45 p.m. competition starting

To close the event, at 11.00 pm, the spectacular firework show on the Lake.

In case of bad weather, the event will be postponed to another date.

And after the traditional event Palio delle Bisse, here is a good news for shopping lovers: on Sunday 12th June the “Mercato del Forte” comes back to Torri. As usual the booths, coming from Tuscany, offer made in Italy items, especially leather bags, cashmere and home furnishing. Good value for money!

The traditional “Festa di San Filippo”

Dear guests,

On 26th May Torri del Benaco celebrates the feast of San Filippo, saint patron of the town, and the historical centre will be animated by markets, exhibitions and shows.

During the day, by strolling in the town centre, discover the hobby and craft market: the booths will offer handcraft items and typical local products.

At 7 pm, Meeting and blessing of bikers and motorcycles in the Church Square

Kids entertainment and live music are also on programm.

And at 10.00 pm do not miss the symbol of the event: “se brusa la barca”, the traditional and suggestive boat-bonfire on the lake.

I think the “Festa di San Filippo” is the most important traditional event in Torri del Benaco: do not miss it!

It is autumn: it is chestnuts time!
On the mountains that framed Torri del Benaco and Lake Garda, the typical vegetation is characterised by the rich presence of chestnut trees.
In this time of the year, the chestnut ripens and the village of San Zeno di Montagna, situated in the hills just 10 kms from Torri del Benaco, celebrates it with a special event.
The „Festa delle Castagne“ (Chestnuts Festival) takes place this year on next week-end and the after one: on 24th /25th October and on 31st October/1st November.
The event includes gastronomic stands, where you can taste local specialties based on chestnut, concerts and live music, exhibitions and a special market whose booths offer chestnuts, of course, and other local products.

Besides the events planned in the town centre, I recommend you to have dinner in some restaurants of the town, that offer special chestnut menues, from appetizers until dessert. Here are the restaurants that partecipate in the initiative:
